Engineering
BTEC Engineering is an optional subject in KS4, which is run in collaboration with Linton Village College. Although a relatively new course for us, LVC have been successfully delivering Engineering courses for many years and now offer our pupils a BTEC Certificate (equivalent to 2 A*-C GCSEs) in Engineering. All lessons take place at Linton, with pupils travelling there 3 times per cycle.
Pupils who are interested in a career in engineering or a similar industry will find this course ideal. It is a specialist work-related qualification for the engineering sector, and everyone who chooses this option uses a range of engineering equipment and tools. Each unit will have its own specific learning outcomes, which will be delivered in a variety of ways: class work, discussions, site visits, visiting experts, supervised practicals, research and others.
This is a non-exam modular course and pupils are assessed on their practical work; their understanding of how you prepare to work in an engineering environment; their use of correct safety procedures and their understanding of the administration associated with the workplace.
