ICT
Sawston Village College is equipped with three large computer suites. Each room has 30 networked computers and a colour laser printer. Pupils have access to a wide range of commercial and academic software including; MS Office 2003, MS Visio, MS Project, Serif Education Suite, Macromedia Studio MX, Jasc PaintShop Pro, TechSoft 2D, Viewpoint and Animation Shop.
The school has a number of curriculum based networked laptops and full range of subject specific applications. The school is equipped with interactive whiteboards, graphics tablets and CADCAM facilities. Students are actively encouraged to become familiar with the ICT facilities and are timetabled into the computer rooms throughout Key Stage 3.
Computer facilities are available every lunchtime for students to use and the homework club offers after school access to a computer room.
All pupils follow the National ICT Strategy in years 7, 8 and 9 using www.CompleteICT.net
For years 10 and 11, pupils have the option to follow the new Edexcel Diploma in Digital Applications (DiDA). Those pupils selecting the course can study towards the AiDA , CiDA or DiDA.
